The available and ongoing research in the field of Neuroscience has conclusively established the fact that all actions and consequent results are a manifestation of thinking, which is an important function of the brain. Brain is deeply social and is highly sensitive to any perceived physical and social threats at all times. As such any event or communication that triggers the threat (physical, social/ emotional) response in the brain impacts adversely it’s receptivity to instructions/ suggestions or new ideas.

As such the brain based approach/ intervention leverages this scientific understanding to embed appropriate learning’s in leaders/ managers that contribute to enhanced leadership effectiveness by assisting individuals generate insights within using a process driven and goal focused approach.

7. How is coaching different from mentoring, counseling and training?

The common understandings for each of the terms are as under:

Mentoring: A mentor tends to focus on career development (especially younger colleagues), shares experiences and gives advice to secure professional growth for the mentee.

Counseling: Counseling is the provision of professional assistance and guidance in resolving personal and/ or psychological concerns.

Training: Training is teaching or developing in oneself or others any skills and knowledge that relate to specific useful competencies.
