Brittany Holmes, Ph.D.

Senior Researcher
NeuroLeadership Institute

Brittany Holmes, Ph.D. is a senior researcher at the NeuroLeadership Institute (NLI) where she lends her scientific expertise to developing neuroscience-based learning experiences that transform organizational leadership. She completed her Ph.D. in Social Neuroscience at the University of Rome in the Social and Cognitive Neuroscience Lab (SCNL), where she investigated the neural and behavioral correlates of social attention, self-other distinction and in-group/out-group membership processing. Specifically, Brittany’s research focused on the modulation of gaze following behavior according to higher-order social cognitive variables (e.g. group affiliation), and how the sense of self can be manipulated through cross-modal illusions (and modulated by implicit/explicit group biases). Her research incorporated neuroimaging, psychophysical and behavioral measures, as well as social manipulation techniques, and is published in peer-reviewed journals.

Previously, Brittany earned a master’s degree from Columbia University after studying cognitive neuroscience and education. Her thesis focused on metacognition and memory in healthy and clinical populations using fMRI. Brittany has taught courses in both cognitive and educational psychology and presented research at many international conferences. She also spent year working with a socially responsible start-up in India dedicated to empowering women through technology.
